IMO if something gets water in it, then its also going to get very dusty.

Getting something that stays dry is a lot easier to achieve than keeping the dust out.

Some regard $10k as being very cheap ... but for what you purchased, it did not sound cheap to me. I'd be disappointed too. But for actual full camper trailers (you's isn't one), they can cost quite a lot. But for $10k, there's a lot of good stuff you could have bought IMO.

Good luck with your negotiations. Its a pain though having to go through that ...

So Wayne, how'd you go with this, sorted yet or still in the mix.

Personally, I'd be surprised if they didn't do anything about it, but don't leave it too long or they can easily say "you've" done the damage yourself, so they'll make you wear it.

There's so many camper trailers around its hard to make a choice. Some of them seem to be copies of trusted well know brands like Track shack, etc. They are cheaper new than the well known brands are second hand. I'm doing some research , but I think I'll go for a second hand well known brand in good condition. (interested to hear from members who strongly recommend the type of camper trailer they use, maybe there's a thread on that already already)

I think some of the cheaper new camper trailers are just unpacked from a container and final assembled here. ( there's a place near my house that does that on the forecourt , you can see them as you drive by), There's some good forums devoted to the subject that have a lot of practical advice.

It's interesting about the quality issues, I think consumers in general have to be more careful before paying, imagine everything you buy is second hand. Inspect the goods and if it's not up to standard don't pay for it, and leave the premises.:) cheers simmo

G'day Simmo, we had a really good look at a unit when in the showroom, it was pretty much perfect, except for the fact probably hundreds of people had been through it, so some minimal wear so to speak.
Nearly all of these type of campers are I guess from China and get assembled here, its cheap ;). Yes there are some quality issues, probably even with the steel used,, but, we all know, you get what you pay for. However, assembly is assembly, and you can't knock the Chinese for that,,, they don't do it, its done here by whoever sells them.

I think these things are moving so fast from the lots that its hard to do a full inspection when you pick it up. In our instance, we arrived at their knock-off time. You can't expect them to stay back for an hour or more whilst we investigate it all, and of course, unless it happens to be raining, how are you going to do a "leak test"?
Some problems don't arise until your towing, or actually using the rig whilst camping. We discovered this when we went to charge our battery with the solar panel,,, it was not even connected :o

We treat ours a bit like a Land Rover,, needs some help in the fine/final detail ;):D

Far be it for Land Rover owners to critisize QA:D:D:D:D

The thing that I find a bit difficult, is that we mention brands all the time. For instance, on another thread, someone is asking about kitchen units, and the name Drifta came up. I guess if there was a problem with someone's Drifta gear, then the Drifta brand name could not be mentioned. Nonetheless Drifta do make camping trailers now, but they can be mentioned.

Issues with camper trailers are often discussed on caravan sites ... which is probably a more appropriate place to seek advice.

I think too, that people are ignorant of what they are buying, and the more technology, the time it takes to learn it. When you pick something up new, one has no idea what to look for, because you are not familiar with what you've bought. Even if its top quality.

I'll certainly respect the rules of this site, and I can understand the disaster of a company having a run at this site for defamation etc due to brand names being criticised.

There is an enormous difference between the sort of discussion about specific products that is acceptable and the sort of discussion that could lead to legal trouble.

There is no problem with telling people that your wife has trouble reaching the top cupboard in your caravan or that you wish you had bought the other model with the built in toilet. You can even complain that the stud pattern on the wheels suits Toyotas rather than Land Rovers.

None of those comment in any way amounts to a claim that the van manufacturer or dealer has built or sold a product that is unfit for purpose or that they have done anything dodgy.
