Right, so my understanding, based on Redback's experience with the Gecho wheels and a 2.7 D4:
AL-KO hubs exist in a suitable size for D3/4 PCD (120mm) and centre spigot diameter.
Discovery Alloy wheels won't fit the hub due to their tapered centre hole.
Steel wheels (either Tuffant or Gecko) will fit the AL-KO hubs without issue.
What is the hub weight capacity in your setup redback?
Correct our camper is 1600kg GVM, but weighs about 1400 to 1500kg loaded at the moment.
There are a couple of OTHER companies that do steel rims for the D3/4, Dynamic and Rockcrawler.
OK just so you know, I've had a few different combinations rims on our D4 and camper.
In Order
D4.............CAMPER
BMW X5 17" ALLOYS......D2 16" ALLOYS
BMW X5 17" ALLOYS......BMW X5 17" ALLOYS
D3 17" ALLOYS..............BMW X5 17" ALLOYS
CURRANT SETUP
D3 17" ALLOYS..............GHECO 17" STEELS.
There you go, the D2 alloys where on the camper when we had the D2, I basically left them on until I found a replacement to match what ever I had on the D4, when I went to D3 alloys on the D4, that was when I found that the D3 alloys wouldn't fit the camper, so I went to the steel rims.
Here it is setup with BMW X5 alloys on the D4 and camper, we at King River Hut VIC High Country.
Cheers Baz.

Just returned last night from 2 week, 5000kms trip.
Up Oodnadatta Track, across Simpson on Rig Rd and home via Broken Hill.
Gave the trailer, and wheel a real work out.
Everything performed beautifully.
