    Smile Value of shopping around

Thought I'd better check the wheel bearings in the camper before a trip west.
Good thing I did, as there was evidence of a bit of moisture ingress, and some nice corrugations ihn the outer cups.
Standard Holden axle trailer bearing set; Supercheap = $32 (on special, down from $39; Repco, $41.99; Local auto repair and parts joint - $18 each, and he apologised because they "used to be about $12 not long ago"!!

Guess where I'm going for bits from now on!

I don't use unbranded bearings even on my box trailer, let alone something that I want to survive harsh treatment.

Which means they will be quality items from NTN or Timken.

But what's actually on the bearings ? CBC are a bearing supplier not a manufacturer so if it's CBC on the bearings they will most probably be out of China.
Two taper roller bearings for $18 and the parts supplier has a profit margin.....

That's not to say that there's a problem, just depends on the Chinese (maybe) supplier and to be fair, Timken, NTN etc. etc. all have plants in China.

The Supercheap sets I've seen are Timken, but probably made in one of their Chinese plants.
