10.9+(3x85.9) -> 268.6kg = 378.4kg to play with have you weighed you caravan lately that's a fair bit of luggage!

For a long trip a trailer is essential... or dehydrated food have you weighed you caravan lately
    More payload with dehydrated passengers...

Then again I score almost an extra 20kg over the LR weight by being the driver.

the crappy old Range Rove has a 4ton tow capacity. I've never bothered checking mine. The block of flats I tow has a Tare of 1600kg .... So even if we blow that out to 2.5tons.... I'm still well under the rigs tow capacity.

It will be the tongue weight that will be my undoing. But there is nothing I can do about that. Land rover has put a pathetic tongue weight on most of there vehicles from what I can tell (it's a European thing). The tongue weight it pathetic on pretty much any European vehicle). I'm just going to stick my finges in my ears and pretend I can't hear any talk about tongue weight

I'll be right up there on the GVM though. 2 x adults, 3 x children ... lpg tanks, bull bar.... There is little I can do about this either.

I'm pretty sure if you read the manual, it's 4tons upto the GVM... and your tongue weight is even further reduced. I"d need to read the Range Rover manual again to verify.

Not sure if Pete is referring to the max capacity of a 50mm towball which is 3500Kg. FIL used to tow a 3800Kg boat (including tri axle trailer) with the RRC (4000kg towing capacity) but used a 70mm towball and hitch. (Yes, it was a bloody big boat).

IIRC the ball weight was only around 200Kg and the whole thing was legal, he even had it checked by Vicroads to confirm this.

Now, shall I tell you a little story about how fast a carbied 3.5 RRC goes with 3.8 tonne on the back... . NOT VERY!
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Shane, I have a device that measures ball weight.
If you are interested, we'll try it one day.

They don't go very fast even without 3.8t on the back.
