    Starting to build car trailer

Have started to build a trailer, will take a few months I guess with work getting in the way, needed a bigger trailer to move my stuff around, may even hire it out occasionally for members needing to move vehicles etcimage.jpg.

Looks like you've already made some progress. What suspension setup is that and what's it rated at? Looks like it has 4 wheel brakes? Electric? What's the overall trailer rating going to be?

    Following with interest.

If you going to use it as a car trailer then consider putting a set of extra chassis rails north/south along the length of the trailer at approximately car wheel track spacing. These will carry the vehicle load and help stop your floor "bellying" between cross rails.

Suspension is Simplicity brand, rating is 3500 KG, load will depend on weight of trailer, with the rating all 4 wheels must be braked only problem I have found towing other trailers and my old caravan around is when braking getting brake balance right as with weight transfer a larger percentage of weight is transferred to front axle leaving less weight on rear causing them to lock up easier does not seem there is anything on the market to allow adjustment of this (unlike heavy transport market).

Yes there will be extra rails down around the wheel track area looking at a pooch deck setup like on car carriers, leave centre open less weight and make up a centre drop in out of plywood when carting general stuff, removable winch post again if not needed keeps weight down and a Toyota spare wheel carrier to hold spare tyre underneath near axle.

I've only ever had nice people borrow mine. The damage to it has been inflicted by me.

You need a in-cab brake controller AND a pintle hook to tow mine. Certainly limits the number of people who ask

Starting to fully weld cross members on hope to have it mounted onto suspension by end of month, weld on end pieces then as well and run cable inside rails for lights and brakes, will look at seperate wiring between front and rear axle to fine tune braking force due to weight transfer due to the leading/trailing setup of suspension. Due to work can only attack this project every second weekend at the moment.
