    Trailer Hitches

Guys, I am a complete goose when it comes to towing! I need to tow an ex-army trailer with the ring hitch set up. At the moment I only have a 50mm ball on the standard 2" Hayman Reece style set-up and I am trying to work out what type of mating hitch I need for the Disco. I've seen Parrot Beak style military (plintle?) hitch's, one's with just a vertial pin etc..... Which one do I need?

    G'day ******,

A pintle hook is what you will require. I would think you should be able to get it with the H/R type receiver. I have seen a combination pintle hook and 50mm ball on a H/R type receiver, not sure where the best place to buy one is, but try a caravan or trailer place, or Google search etc. eg -caravansplus.com.au has a picture of one its online catalogues.

Hope this points you in a right direction

Yep. I bought a pintle hook (actually as I understand it that's the ring part on the trailer, while what's on the vehcile is the 'nato hitch') from a mate.

Anyway I went to a towbar place with an older and wiser mate and purchased an adapter which is essentially a flat plate wldeed and gusseted to a piece of RHS that fits into the HR receiver. The pintle hook / nato hitch thing just bolts straight up. Works a treat
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
