All Aluminium large trailers

When I got all the running gear with the AL KO axles, they sold me some expensive electric/hydraulic control unit that is supposed to lock on the brakes for up half an hour if it detaches.
And the AL KO brake units (evidently) come with attached hand brake set up.
A mate tells me that the servo unit is also useful if trailer starts to "sway", in that you can use the cabin controller to apply the brakes to stop the sway.
Got the hitch delivered already.....what did we do before the internet? (I'm over 1650 k's from the sellers and the makers, so impossible without the net.

I installed a inline Ball valve and a button to activate the hydraulic pump on the draw bar as my handbrake. Same setup as Kimberly Kampers use. Had wheel chock’s just in case but the hand brakes never really lost pressure.

Either way I believe handbrakes are only recommended I.e. not mandatory.

In midst of having trailer made i had to relocate, such that builder was 4000k's away. he had issues over Christmas new year and traiuler was eventually finished end of march and I towed it back to Katherine (NT).

It does NOT have a handbrake option (despite the parts people selling me a handbrake, and teh trailer guys mounting it all up, the discs do not have capacity for a handbrake.
the 6 discs are rather strong and if applied you can feel yourself heading for the windscreen as they take hold (even on lowest setting).
Drafts person is still designing panles to enable retro fitting of personal access doors towards front of trailer, and rear lift spring for tailgate, and internal drop on cross shelves/bunks.
The trailer is very stable and tows very well.
Tare weight was 1170kgs and trailer 7 meters overall and 6m of storage space.Attachment 138423

According to the ADRs, it needs a handbrake.
If it is registered, think about setting one up if you have the time and inclination.
If it is not registered, hope they don't check it.

It passed licence and they didn't query lack of handbrake. (??)
Have been told by trailer experts that there is NO legal requirement for trailer to have a handbrake fitted.
I'd like one for parking up, but licence centre didn't seem concerned at all.
I'm using ALKO axles and they don't have provision for a handbrake available on their discs, and the hydrastar electric over hydraulic unit I have cannot have park brake option retro fitted.
(Wish I had realised when I purchased all the running gear).
Looks like I will have to make sure I have wheel wedges with me when I take the trailer about, to park up.
