Ok, finished one side of the bed off. Not 100% happy but it's ok. The carpet I'm happy with - it's almost an exact match for the original - same style but just a shade or two lighter, so all good there, I think it looks fine. The gold trim I used at the top edge on the wall is a bit thick for my liking but beggars can't be choosers - I needed 3 decent lengths so had to go with what's available these days - looks ok. The bottom cupboard bit will get a curtain hung in it as well I think which will help break up the beigeness (is that a word? 😁 ) of the area.

To be quite honest the work that you have done looks better than the original finish.

The tale of matching bedside lamps.
Been chasing some matching anodised bedside lamps for a couple of weeks and found 2 identical units from different sellers on ebay. Both have arrived and now been stripped back, cleaned sanded and repainted as the finish on them both was faded.
Time to make them work off 12 volts - you used to be able to buy 12 volt BC light globes, but no more from what I could find - these would have been too power hungry anyway, so this arvo I knocked up a couple of LED globes from some puck lights, old 240 volt globes and some bits of wood and glue.
Started by breaking out the old glass to get the bit I needed.

Puck light used - a 4 pack from Bunnings.

Cut the lead off.

Soldered it into the old globes base and glued sticks on 3 sides to mount them - not pretty but you can't see them when installed.

Done! 2 identical bedside lamps - I've run the cable internal to them now as they will be fixed into position. Plenty of light to read by and only draw 3 watts each!

Thanks. I now own around 8 anodised lamps, I seem to have cornered the market recently trying to find the right ones. I've ended up with 4 I'll be using in the van, just have to fit and wire them. There's also another lamp I've found that suits as well if I can find room... 😁

You have a problem there Gav [wink11]:no2:

Stayed home this weekend and got a bit more done. Double bed is pretty much complete apart from a draw, top of the draws on SWMBO side and a couple of bits of trim. After that, only a bit of wiring to complete then it's onto the ensuite which will complete the interior. Hopefully have all that done by the time it starts to warm up again, so I can get stuck into the exterior come Spring.
So a reminder of before -

Looks the goods Gav, we are still adding to ours, pole carrier, front box to carry the BBQ and STUFF etc etc. It is all an ongoing fit out.
