Thanks for that - I’ll do some research on the EvaKool see if they make something that will fit. Adds another one to my list... Lack of 240 volt is not an issue here either.

Well that was quick research! Found one straight away - https://www.mygenerator.com.au/evako...CABEgIEZPD_BwE
Specs are very good - up to 60 degrees below ambient and less power draw too. Might have to go find one to look at. Not sure how I’d make it look right in a 47 year old van but I can live with that... [emoji6]
Compressor modules with a cooling plate can be bought from several suppliers for 'home made' fridges, why not remove the 3 way internals from your old Electrolux (or similar) and keep the original looks with a modern refrigeration unit ? Just be careful as these old absorption fridges use ammonia refrigerant.
Deano :)
We have a Vitrifrigo in the new Van, admittedly we haven't used it yet but the Qld repairer lives down the road, and we bought it secondhand and worked a treat when tested, time will tell I guess. It is solely 12 volt

We couldnt see a need for a freezer either,, we bought the freezer model and run it dialed down. Best money we've ever spent.

Hadn't thought of this either - so the freezer model can be turned down enough that it doesn't freeze salads, etc? (Not for me obviously but I do need to consider SWMBO [biggrin]).
Is the thermostat a true thermostat or like my 38 litre Engel that is a bit of hit and miss and changes temp a bit when the outside temp changes?
