Trailer tare / braked / unbraked question.

My $2000 bargain trailer becoming a bit more expensive, is creeping up in price, close to 3k now for the extra bits & pieces Im spending on it.

Went over weigh bridge with Landy on , 2120Kg , I thought it would be over 2000kg but there was always hope.

soooo I am fitting 4 x electric brakes with a breakaway system . Removing hydraulic over ride setup now (was only on front axle)

so once I've fixed the brakes I can legally tow the LandRover on it .

The question is , if I hook it up to another car that does not have an electric brake controller ,(like the LandRover itself) can I tow the empty trailer. Tare 650kg It would be an unbraked trailer & I believe I can tow up to 750kg unbraked.

oh while Im here, on a tandem do I only need to hook the front wheels up to cable handbrake ? going to need some clever rigging to hook all 4 brakes up to the handbrake lever.

Don't know if they're allowed now but there was a controller that was mounted on the trailer so a car without a controller could tow it.

That looks really smart if it works like I suspect it does. It might just make car based controllers redundant. Trailer brake lights to activate the braking, phone via bluetooth to adjust brake force on the trailer.

    Battery on trailer runs brakes
    Phone controls sensitivity
    Unit detects brake lights.

I would not think using the trailer battery would be allowed unless it is getting charged, after driving through Sydney the battery would be flat.
