Ours are all below windows and vents?
nice to know its not an age thing
Hi guys and gals,
So, we've got this new van,, looks great, tows well and we are very happy with it all round.
Having some spare space at the new factory complex, means we, at the moment, get to store it inside out of the weather. Just a tad happy about this
Before I parked it up inside, I decided I should give it a good wash top to bottom. There's the usual road grime, but the one thing that annoyed me most, was the black streaks that seem to be everywhere. This is not a new problem by any means,, you see most modern vans with these black streaks on them. So I've cleaned them off, which is pretty easy, but I'd really like to help do something to stop it from occurring in the first place if I can.
We had the choice when we purchased the van to get it coated with some chemical,, can't remember what it is called, but opted not too, as we'd seen vans second hand with this treatment supposedly done, and it really didn't look any better, and to get it new is expensive.
Has anyone found, or used any products which help deter these marks long term?
I'd like to protect the whole van if I can, so looking for a total care type product if it's out there. Having access to silicone oil, I did wonder if this was an option, but I'm waiting for the return of our chemical man to clarify some stuff.
There are a lot of products that seem to be available, but look to be more suited to prissy street cars that would never see dirt in any way, and are washed whether they need it or not every weekend.
TIA

Ceramic 9H will keep it looking great for years (about $900 for a 4wd, not sure what a van would be).
The cost effective way - keep it polished..
Cheers Mike.
Looking into it some more,, I'm guessing it would be probably $3,000+ for both the car and van. Taking into account the car needs a full cut & polish buff etc, it'll probably be even more. I'm thinking I may have a few weekends of work ahead of me to get the price down a bit
Pedro, our van is less than a year old, and its been happening pretty much from day 1,, I'm guessing its a "rubber thing". I'm not sure why vans do this, but cars dont, so I'm guessing its a quality thing, but I can't see why it cant be fixed, which is why I'll quiz the boss when he gets back from holidays,,, although I could be waiting a while
The dark streaks scrub off,, but they always reappear,,
as for keep it polished,,
any time you like Mike,,
oh! and did you find those spring rate calcs?
