We have a cassette we empty at dump points but at our last weekend away we were discussing this with a couple of backpackers in a little van.
They have a frame with a seat that takes plastic bags. Do the business, tie a knot in the bag and dump it in the nearest bin. Simples[bighmmm]

I’m not sure the backpacker way is the best way......imagine all the bins around carparks, shopping centers, campsites.

They look interesting. I'd never thought about one of these for the van,, now I'm thinking I might have to investigate a little more.

I found out there are apparently only two makers of composting toilets,,

we prefer the nature's head system and layout as space won't be an issue.

lots of happy customers out here and over there from what I have seen.

I know someone who had a similar one on his bush shack for years and was very happy with it. Made good fertiliser and I never smelt it when we visited.

I quite like that unit, except possibly a touch expensive on the refill side of things, with only 17-ish uses per cartridge.

If it were needed regularly I would agree. It's expensive and overkill, but with three generations together and some needing convenient facilities in the middle of the night, or, multiple times in the middle of the night, it's been a game changer allowing those to continue to maintain comfort and therefore, remain with the family at camp.
