Roof tent set up advice sought.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.
My daughter has a 300 tdi 90. She would like to get a roof top tent for occasional us, and she is on a budget.
Would this set up be feasible.
This tent ROOFTOP TENT VAN 500 FRESH & BLACK 2 P QUECHUA - Decathlon,
On a marine ply base on these roof rails
Defender (1983-2016) Load Bar Kit / Gutter Mount - by Front Runner - Paddock Spares
A way of securing the tent to the base would have to be found but it should not prove difficult.
The is a photo of one of these tents sitting directly on the roof of a 90 but I would be wary of that for obvious reasons.
When my daughter mentioned this first I did suggest a basic pop up tent, mounted on a rigid base on roof bars. It would be only for occasional use so nothing fancy would be required.

I can't comment on the tent or racks, but be aware that 'marine ply' only has upgraded glue. The timber content is still just timber and will rot if left in the elements without a suitable coating system. I would suggest a quality primer/undercoat and two topcoats with attention to cut edges and drilled holes. And by the way, normal good quality ply of suitable thickness will probably do the job just as well without the extra 'marine' expense.
    Don.

Relatives bought a cheap rooftop tent, but the base bowed and they had to reinforce it, so suggest you check its weight rating.

Friends off ours set there some Swag up on the roof rack…..

They leave the swag in-rolled on the roof rack, remove the bows, than the stretchy mesh over the top for driving to stop the flapping.
