I would go option B.
I guess you could try asking Vicroads, but my experience with them is like this:

Q. If I have an unbraked trailer and wish to upgrade it with Electric brakes ,springs etc, to increase the load carrying capacity ,how do I go about Vic Roads.
As the existing trailer has a manufactures trailer specs pop rivited on the chassis.
Is is a hassle to change ?
or better just to pull the ID plate off and re register it as a new home made job with the upgrade on it? to get the higher weight carrying
I would go option B.

hi,
I am normally the first one to start chopping changing and welding then worry about consequences later.
I do suggest you have a serious look at your trailer though. if you buy something from a trailer manufacture and it is rated at 750Kg, it will be constructed from lesser/thinner/smaller materials than a 1400kg unit. So if you upgrade the suspension sure it won't bottom out but it might bend or break.
Sorry for sounding and old fart its just easier to sort things out before your Off Road Adventure than it will be if you are stuck somewhere.
