    Ideas for my trailer

I built my trailer using the tub of a single cab Ford Courrier and fitted Land Rover hubs.
At the present time it have the old RR steel rims with 205 (very old ) tyres.
I am planning to fit the Defender steel rims with the Pirelli 750x16 light truck tyres.
The idea is to place one spare on each side of the trailer.
The external with of the trailer is 1600 and fitting the spares on the sides of the trailer behind the centre of the axel will give me the possibilities to fit the jerry cans at the front of the tool box balancing the weight.
Whay would be the best spare carrier for the job (mounting them on the side pannels of the tub reinforcing it on the inside), the Disco ones or the ones used on the rear door of the Defes and seriers LR's?

Looks much more like a 4x4 trailer now

I recon brakes should be put on, just as a safety thing as you do overload your trailer!!

    Chucaro,

by the time you add the weight of the traler, the existing box on the front, jerry cans and 2 Defender steel wheels you will probably only be able to legally carry your camera in the thing. The addition of brakes (and the relevant rego upgrade) would definately help (legally at least). Is there a need to carry 2 more spare wheels as your already have 1 on the back of your TDi. I use the same hubs on my trailer so I dont have to carry a trailer spare. Weight is realy going to be your killer without putting brakes on it.

Paul, if I fit the steel rims on the trailer I have to use the alloy RR rims with the 235-35-16 on the Defe so there will be not legal compatability.
Perhaps I just fit one spare for the time being and when upgrade the trailer to electric brakes then i would be able to have the second spare.
Thank you for your input, you are correct
