i am really sorry the image is sideways, on my photobucket i did rotate it!
howdy, all, a mate plugged my disco up to the nanocom yesterday, it chucked out a couple, ive posted a picture of the fault codes read. Was wondering if anyone had any experience and can help me understand what they actually mean. google is not being hugely fruitful. the last one i know is my MAF, as the maf i have been trying to save up to replace for a few months now, just cleaned it regularly in the interm, but even that offers no help anymore. every time i get enough to order a new MAF, something else happens like massive vet bill, etc. but now im one car down, that will get replaced very soon.
I do not really understand the others, the injector one might be a glitch. as when the nanocom checked the injector harness, they all came up fine. it could be due to the oil/water/dirt sitting around the bottom of the ecu causing a spaz out. that ill be cleaning up today. the top fault code though i do not understand, is it suggesting the abs sensor on that wheel has failed? or is it in the abs unit itself? i never had the 3 amigoes. just now and then mostly when washed the car, or towing and over bumps in the road, the amigoes would light up, then go away either straight away, if turned car on or off,or within a couple of hundred kms. then in the last couple of weeks they all came on and stayed on until they have now been cleared. in my other thread i think i mentioned about a rear wheel not driving when centre diff lock engaged, and the actual issues engaging that to begin with. wondering if all connected to each other possibly. my friend also did a system bleed. ive had a few weird episodes with the brakes and them locking up and abs not working. and the brake pedal is rock hard on start up and stays rock hard for a few kms.
the 2nd fault down i have no idea what that means!
it also appears my battery is maybe on its way out definitely. voltage has dropped, will be popping into battery world to see if they can load test it for me.
thankyou in advance![]()

Are they logged or current?
If you ave the 3 amigos then I would say the sensor is at fault
It is not uncommon to get some random codes thrown, if they are logged and do not return I wouldn't worry too much about it
the MAF sensor one is always there. the rest are new so will see how they go![]()
I had this on my right rear sensor. I pulled the connector near the sensor apart and sprayed it with contact cleaner and the fault has never come back after 20,000Km.
The open circuit injector can happen with a flat battery particularly if the engine stops from low voltage. The day I bought the car it had a dirty battery terminal and I had all sorts of faults like this. If it runs on 5 just clear it.
Air flow circuit logged high may need a new MAF.

thanks phillipA
do you know if removing the ecu, you need to disconnect the battery? or does car just need to be off? i need to pull my ecu out to clean the moisture/oil that it is sitting in. but not sure on the proceedure loL!
i think my battery on its way out oculd be the cause of some of the faults.
I always disconnect the battery/batteries when I remove the ECU.
Regards Philip A
If pulllng your ECU out, I would disconnect the battery, JUST to be safe.
Just make sure you have the radio code...(came the voice of experience... 5 minuites too late again
)
is there a difference between RHD and LHD D2s in this particular area?...cos i can't see how to remove the ECM on mine without disconnecting the negative battery lead(even if i wanted to)
about the high air flow, if you'll get this code with new MAF too replace the depression controll valve cos it might be the cause of that... as a matter of fact if you know it's old you better replace it anyway cos it's a simple plastic bit exposed to very hot oily gasses and even if it works it gets worn in time( IMO it should be treated like a kind of long term service item and changed at let's say every 50000km... if for example the d.c.v. doesnt open as it should the intake will miss the crankcase gasses and due to the suction more air than the ECM expects will cross through the MAF and it will throw this fault code... happened to me... based on pure logic this could be valid vice-versa too as if the d.c.v. doesnt close there will be excess of crakcase gasses and low air flow code
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
radio will be ok basilits a pioneer one with no code which is awesome

i thought it would be a good idea to disconnect the battery, and not reconnect it until its plugged back in.
thanks sierrafrey. i think that is also called a crank case breather or something? ill google!
