Thread: Retrofitting missing factory options to new-ish LR's; FL2, Evoque, D3/D4, RRS, etc...

I'm keen on the factory retrofit stuff, but don't have your level of skill/confidence to dive in without a little guidance.

Have you documented somewhere the parts and process for the DAB+ install in the 2015 FL2? I've got a 2014 Disco 4 and keen to do this if it's not overly complicated.

As with Strydes, I'd be interested in fitting the rear camera and possibly also the Nav (or an after market street NAV and mapping option (e.g. Hema maps) that integrates with the original screen).

I have a MY12 D4 with the Harmon Kardon HiICE system which is the base standard for camera/NAV in my model. Also in Sydney.

The components for a DAB+ on a '14 Disco 4 are the same as the '15 FL2, probably only the coax and fiber-optic cables will be different, as the DAB module is located separately to the audio amp.

Which sound system do you have in yours now? It's a Harmon Kardon with touchscreen?

If you already have the touchscreen then it's only a matter of connecting the Nav module, GPS receiver, and the associated wiring.

The camera should be pretty straight forward. Let me do a little research and i'll see exactly what's needed.

Mine is the Meridian HiICE touchscreen, looks much like the one you upgraded in the 2015 FL2.

You're a machine Cambo, all over this stuff. I'll be following LotzaLandies satnat stuff with interest too. Even though his will be a different system for the HK stereo, I've pondered that retrofit for ages too.

Well that's easy then

So you don't have navigation in yours either?

Its a confidence thing.

Initially I didn't want to cause any issues with the original factory warranty, but that's no longer an issue as it's out of the LR Warranty period.

I think for the Navigation it would be more cost effective to use this system

Because the HDD navigation computer from Land Rover is about $2000 as a spare part and i've NEVER seen one 2nd hand for sale...

The integration looks pretty seamless, especially as it activates the Nav button on the touchscreen. For $1000 it's going to be better value than an OEM retrofit. Assuming that it works as well as they claim.
