The two sizes are almost identical in rolling diameter, so vehicle speed won't change, fuel economy won't change much either.
Gday all,
Just have a few questions, that may be pretty daft - but hopefully someone brighter than myself could shed some light for me.
I have a Discovery 1 which currently has Coopers Discover ATR LT265/75R16 installed all round.
Now, they're getting a bit old and have low tread so I was looking to replace them. I found a good deal for some used AT 235/85R16.
What I am wondering about is whether this size would work on a Land Rover Discovery 1. If so, what would change in regard to fuel economy, speed of vehicle and so forth?
Any help appreciated!
Regards,

what type of driving are you planning on doing? 235 width is more than ok for typcial driving but off road you might notice the difference. The profile shouldnt really affect economy etc does the disco have a lift kit or anything or is it standard?
Just a standard lift at the moment.
I was going to do some travel up north of WA. Which obviously would mostly be road driving, but might end up on the sand somewhere...
What diff ratios are you running
discopete on here has run that size on his 200Tdi disco with standard diff ratios and didnt have any issues. If a 200Tdi can push them along, then anything will
I would suggest you might want to PM him for his opinion![]()
If he is running 265/75 16s, he'll have no trouble with 235/85 16s, they are virtually the same size, differing only in treadwidth. For what it is worth I run 235/85 16s, they were on a Disco 1 V8 auto for 4 years until I wrote it off, then on a Disco 1 Tdi Manual for the last 2.
My next set will be 235/85/16s. I am currentley running 265's.
yeah i have 235/85 MT's and i love 'em!
