    The New Front Grille

Been a while since I posted, but liked how my new grill turned out so thought I'd share.......

I started by taking out the air-con radiator (going to turn into pump) and mounting the fans directly to the main radiator, with a switch in the cab.....came up trumps, even has a lovely blue light Then thought I'd better add some mesh to stop leaves, sticks and the sorts going straight into the radiator......a quick trip to Supercheap Autos and came back with a sheet of mesh. Started up the Dremmel and ended to what I thought looked "bloody mint" looking new grill......

Sort of has the new Rangy look now

    Check it all out.....

Funnily enough there is a Land Rover factory grille much the same for the Middle East, as it provides more airflow into the radiator.
I cannot find any pics , just this reference

I think the top lip is too thick in relation the total lack of a bottom lip. What does it look like if you turn it upside down?

I do agree, when I first put it on I did notice, but I think once I put a nice tube bar on the front it will look totally different....even REALLY AWESOME

You can't really turn it upside because the bottom lip holds the plastic pieces below the headlights and I don't have a plastic welder to change anything around.

It really does give better airflow, noticeable when going up to our local playground. Normally I hit 95+ degrees up at the top of a very long steep windy road, just hit 90 and the day was hotter with less wind than most days we do go up. I think removing the air-con radiator has had the biggest positive effect.

Ahh. That's the thing! It's missing the tube/bull bar. Once that's on, it will be transformed. I like the cleanliness of the mesh(?) design.

Good job. With a front bar on it will look much better.

I did a similar job on my Prado, and was considering doing the same on my Disco.

    Prado Grille after:

Sorry for toyota logos haha But it may give people some ideas.

    Cheers.

First of all a big Hello from out here in the sand box ( Dubai ), first post here, been lurking around for a while. So thought it was time I shot of my first post

Yes that grill is what most people refer to as the Saudi grill. It most Disco 1's it came as factory fitted.

Here is Big Red ( My D1 ) with the factory fitted "saudi grill"
