Leak in Headliner - Passenger Side

    Hello All,

I recently purchased a 2001 TD5 Disco - and loving her! Except I have a slight leak that is wetting the headliner on the passenger side whenever it rains for an extended period.

Water is leaking in somewhere on the passenger side and is wetting the headliner mainly near the roof handles and along the windscreen.

I have scoured this site and other Landy forums to find a solution and have tried a couple things to rectify - neither have worked.

I initially put silicon around the sunroof and roof interface and around where the roof rack attaches to the roof... This did not work.

I then sealed the sunroof with gaffa tape - so no water can enter via the sunroof. I did this to see if the leak was caused by the sunroof drain pipe issue that seems quite common... This has not worked.

Does anyone have any other suggestions to rectify this problem?

It is not a massive amount of water but it is starting to damage the headliner.

It is also worth noting that when the vehicle is moving the water ingress doesn't seem to occur...

Thanks in advance for any comments

    Cheers

PS - I originally posted in the wrong section - sorry.
Could be a leak in the sealing around the windscreen, and while you are moving the normal rubber surround at the top of the windscreen and the air movement stops the water from gettting to the leak.

Try getting a garden hose and while you are holding the rubber at the top of the windscreen away from the body and screen, directing water into the area at the top of the glass. If the windscreen seal is leaking you will soon know.

    Hope this helps.

Roscoe, Did you just drop the headliner and tighten? Or was it more complicated than that?

    Thanks for your help everyone!

dropped the hood lining a little, undid the nut inside that retains the roof bar, and silicon on the underside of the rubber gasket, it was old and a little hard and perished and i wasn't close to a LR dealer at the time so just fudged it with silicon. i had hit the roof with a hose and confirmed it was coming in from that hole. no problem since ........... so i thought

interestingly, today, i jumped in car at lunch to find a puddle of water in my rubber drivers floor mat, so will be investigating further.
maybe the silicon didnt last, maybe i have the other usual problem with leaking around windscreen as well. been out of the wet for about 6 moths now so a bit hard to tell.

A leaking new windscreen is what caused my puddle on the passenger side mat. Non-genuine windscreens do not fit well. A bit of extra sikaflex around the top left hand side has fixed it .......for now!
