    TD5 Oil Filter

Interested in the forum's advice on change intervals for oil filter on 200k D2.
Should I change every 20k as per Rave or every 10k with rotor filter.
Also interested in advice on air and fuel filters.
    Thanks.

With the filters being the cost they are, I change them every 6 months, along with the oil.

This is all the filters, being both oil, air & fuel.

Auto trans gets done every 2 years with new filter & fluid.

Paul, I don't see it as when to change the filters, but when to change the fluids. As Basil said, they are not expensive so I do the oil every 5000k. There's mostly road driving in there, but a fair bit of hard stuff too. Can't hurt.

    cheers

They are cheap and easy to get at once you do it a few times. Just let it cool down first. I do mine every 10,000ks. Never overtighten the one under the turbo. They can be a real pain to get off if someone swings on it.

Thanks for your advice. This forum is certainly very empowering, especially to folks like me who need a bit of coaching.
What is your advice re type of filters - genuine or OEM (ie. Britpart and Rover Parts Plus?

Genuine / OEM filters, especially the Centrifugal unit.

As for intervals... Unless your hammering the poor vehicle...

15,000km changes are more than adequate.

    Use a high end oil...

Any shorter interval gains nothing and wastes lots!

I use Penrite 5w40. Is that considered 'high end'??
If not, what brands are considered high end and what are low end??
I am curious because, as with everyone that services their own vehicle, I want my vehicle to last.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Exactly, had mine tested at 20k a couple of times & still OK,but changed it anyway.

Any quality fully synthetic is the go,as per LR spec for TD5.Filters should be changed at same time as oil, although LR recon spin on can be done every 60k.Centrifugal must be changed at every oil change,as said by others

As said not a big cost but out of curiosity I once cut open the centrifugal filter after 10 000km and it struck me that the design, coupled with the amount of sludge visible, was such that they would easily do 20 000km and I can not see a reason to change them earlier even if you are changing the oil more frequently like 10 000km
