    Auto Conversion

    Hi, Some of the UK members here will know that I, with a little help from friends, have converted my manual TD5 D2 into an Automatic!

    Couldn't bring myself to sell it and buy an auto.......


    so.....some shopping was needed


    Second Hand sourced parts.....

    Low milage TD5 auto box.
    Torque converter
    Auto Flyweel
    Flex Plate Carrier
    Trans Tunnel trim
    Trans tunnel wood
    auto selector and cable
    XYZ Switch
    Oil cooler
    Main Wiring Harness
    Auto Pedal Box
    (poss auto master cylinder, or at least brake fluid reservoir)
    Gearbox wiring loom and ECU
    Engine ECU



    New Parts


    Rear Crank Oil Seal.
    Crank Bolts
    Flex Plate
    Cooler pipes
    Torque converter bolts
    auto filter kit and seal
    10 ltrs atf
    auto box output seal
    trans box input seal
    2ltr trans box oil
    engine oil
    trans cooler sensor
    trans tunnel top plate and foam seal
    trans box intermediate shaft seals

    I had to change the main wiring loom as my car didn't have the wiring for the gearbox ecu etc......


    With help from Urban Panzer and friends a LOT of the car then came apart!








    And then the interior!



    and then the heater box!





    all out......



    now time to put this one in......

    Manual Dual mass removed and solid auto flywheel and flexplate installed






    Gearbox in ........





    Followed by all the other bits......

    I have done the conversion from td5 auto to manual, partner didnt like the manual and had to put it back to auto....

    Its all fun and games....

    I really like those alloys on your vehicle Monkiefone, whats the name/ style of them I assume they are LR originals?

    Hi there. why did you do the swap? I have to make a decision right now whether to buy manual or auto and am leaning towards manual. Am interested in your thoughts on this topic. Thanks
