    Newly Programmed Key

    Gday All,
I recently programmed and got cut a second key for my 2004 D2 v8. Everything works; the fob locks and unlocks the car, the key turns and starts the car, but...if I turn the car off and leave it unlocked when I come back to start it, the key turns but doesnt start the car! If I lock and unlock the car with the fob it starts like normal. Ive tried my original key, but this problem doesnt occur with it. This isnt a big problem obviously, but I thought if I can fix it I should!
    Thanks.

    Hi

It sounds like you've got a key which is missing a wee bit of circuitry, that controls the passive immobilization. Topic was discussed in the following thread a while ago with respect to keys purchased from ebay.

    Ok, thanks!!
Ive just had a read of all that. I guess I'll see if I can turn off the passive immobiliser setting in the BCU.
    Thanks!

It's not just the ebay keys. I bought one from a landrover place and it was missing a chip inside it, would unlock and start it no worries but leave it and you would turn the key and nothing, you had to press the unlock button and it would start. Was also getting errors as well eg m&s lights and limp home mode, swap to original key and it went away and ran fine, rang the place I got it from and he swapped it for another key and worked fine after that
