Abenteuer Allrad in Bad Kissingen, Germany 2015 - anyone going?

Hi, is anyone else going to the Abenteuer Allrad in Bad Kissingen, Germany this weekend? It is Europe's biggest offroad show:- Abenteuer & Allrad

We will be getting to the camping area on Fri 5th after lunch, and staying for the weekend. I thought it might be interesting to meet up with some other AULRO members. We'll be in our 130 poptop campervan - come and say Hello.

Some random photos of when we were there in 2010.

The camping area is just as interesting to walk through as the show itself. Most of the vehicles are geared up, with every accessory imaginable for overland travel, but I reckon a lot don't see more action than just driving from show to show...

    Some interesting vehicles!!
That would be absolutely sensational, so hopefully you'll provide full details & photos of your trip.
Germany?...Do you ever have a look at any WW11 ruins/artifacts/buildings etc?

If you're travelling in Germany and want to have a look at a good museum which has a lot of war artefacts etc, stop in at the Auto & Technik museum at Sensheim / Sinsheim (appears to be two different spellings for the same town). It is just off the autobahn about half way between Frankfurt and Stuttgart, or not far to the south east of Mannheim / Heidelberg.

This place has everything, including aeroplanes, trains, vehicles of all descriptions and much more. You can easily spend a whole day there and still not see it all. There are restaurants, picture theatres etc inside the complex.

If you are driving that section of the autobahn, you can't miss it. Just look out for what appears to be two Concordes perched high above a group of buildings (one is a Concorde and the other is the Russian copy of the same). The complex is right alongside the autobahn - just take any of the exits into the town of Sensheim / Sinsheim to get there (there's a fantastic bakery with its own small restaurant / roadside diner in the centre of town that opens early for breakfast).

I spent an entire day there with a mate a couple of years back and would love to go back for another look - have never seen anything like this place before or since.

    Cheers .........

Yes - it was the staff car of one of Hitler's right hand men (can't remember which one it was though - Himmler / Goering or someone equally as well known ??). Fully restored. The photo doesn't really do it justice - it's bloody huge.

There's also a huge armored Cadillac in there somewhere which was used by the US President to tour West Germany after the war. It even has "hatches" in strategic locations where security personnel could poke the barrels of guns out to shoot at threats etc.

There's probably a better collection of American vehicles at this museum than at many museums in America. A huge collection of motor cycles, but virtually no Harley's (plenty of vintage Indians though). Plus many German / European motor cycles.
    Cheers .........

    Thanks.
Yes the Germans had awesome cars leading up to WW11.
There's a guy in Melbourne who owns a 540K Mercedes,...massive, awesome car,...still has the little masts on the front of it for flying the "flags"! I've sat in it, the owner uses it quite regularly.

Re trip report, I'll see what I can do - my vehicle build thread is a year behind....

The old car and motorbike museum in Vladivostok, Russia is also an interesting place. Attached are some photos of when we drove through in 2009.

To keep this thread off track....

There is heaps of interesting WWII and military machinery parked in public squares in Russia, Mongolia and Eastern Europe.
