Couldn't agree with you more with the wiring nightmares. One thing i have found is the english/yankee have good documentation and the jap stuff you generally can't source or is changed every 3 weeks and i cant read japanese either.

Very much so, the japs actually have really good documentation/schematic diagrams, the problem being, you generally need to source them via genuine diagrams

    State rail

Thought i might back track and put a photo of what i started with. As per earlier post i bought an EX NSW railways 130. I bought it in Sydney from the auction and drove it back to Mildura. I got about 10K's when it dropped onto 4 cylinders but had the foresight to put a TD5 engine harness in my toolbox (in case). Spent about 1 hour in a Repco car park to replace it then drove it the rest of the way no dramas. I then did about another 1000 kilometres and then preceeded to rip the TD5 out of it to start the rebirth.

photo taken day after i got it home. It also had a noisy gearbox and square tyres

    Seat box mods

Spent heaaps of hours on the trans tunnel and seat box. I had to start again with the cover over the transmission. I also modified where it sits over the seat box. I cut off the original alloy tabs and made up new ones to suit new cover. I finished Tigging it this arvo. I also filled the holes for the hand brake. I still have to work out if i am going to use a Disco T-Bar shifter or grab one out of a commodore or something. When i find what i want i will then fab a new console and incorparate a hand brake in it. Will be nice to have more leg room with the bloo&* thing relocated.

Just need to finish welding up a couple of more holes that where made for all the railway wiring looms and another bit is finished

This could be the beginning of a specialist conversion business

P.S. this would lend itself to portals very well - just a thought

I'm hearing you. Probably why they drive Astons and Alfas because they shrewd with their money.
