    Top Hat Fitting in Perth?

. . . and tails, dress shoes, etc.

    Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Anyway, I see Turner sells ductile top hat liners - not for the 3.5, but for 3.9 and up - and since I've got a perfectly good 3.9 block here, but one liner has a big scratch in it, it needs fixing anyway.

Is there ANYONE in Perth who could actually be trusted with this job? I don't want them pressed in cold, but done properly. (Would it help if I told them it was from a Toyota?)

The only engine builder that springs to mind is Kostecki Engine Centre. They do everything including v8 supercar work, so chances are they could be costly but are supposed to be top class as far as engine builders are concerned. They also do machine work for a lot of other workshops too as far as I'm aware.

You might get more responses in the WA section though.

Go to M&D auto engineering in Carlisle
Rovertech, Purcell autos have been using them since the 1980's
They have personally replaced the liners in 3 of My 3.5 V8's since 1984
I have never had any issues with thier work as they know the rover engine very very well.
One the modified engines I had done by them and assembled by me with bigger liners and holden pistons has done over 400k now and is still running today.
My current Rangie has a newer 3.5 modded to 3.9 done by them with over 30k on it now.
I only swapped the motor over 2 years ago and its not my daily driver.

Well, that's three very helpful answers, so I'll have a look into them and report back, though it will be a while until I get around to it. Thanks!

I should add that during a recent search it sounds like Kostecki has closed up.

kostecki's have indeed closed up. focusing on their sons race car in america or over east or something like that. lucky for the perth car scene really.

performance mods in ossy park have a very good rep within the industry, we use them for all our race cars (6.68second car with engine built here in WA is the most notable)

I will PM you with a few shops not to use, since this forum does not like naming bad places.
