    Kaiser vs air/electric diff lockers

    Hi all, not all that tuned up with diff lockers so am on the hunt for info before I buy for a 94 Disco.

    This seems like a good idea, and by video footage obviously works. no need for manual engagement
    KAISER - Differential Locker

    A different type of locker, eg ARB, where it is manually engaged with air or electricity, therefor "on demand".

    What do you think, Kaiser style or ARB style.

    Looks like it has a very similar end result to the Detroit locker.


    ARB type I think are way to go though. Despte many of their comments which I disagree with (about a number of things), I think that it will alter the way the vehicle handles, especially if the surface is slippery such as clay, mud, wet roads etc. ARB type lockers maintain standard and more predicatable handling. Offroad. Probably much of a much. It would also be interesting to know how strong the Kaiser locker is, especially with impact loading and the fine needles.

    All Auto "un" lockers are best described as "Low side finders" when on slippery side slopes or on off angle sand...

    Experienced and observed it many many times...

    Even ARB style lockers, when engaged will give a vehicle the tendency to walk across a side slope - especially in reversing scenarios...

    I have a Detroit Locker in my Stage 1 and this low side finding can be alarming at times

    is there a simple explanation of why this phenomenon occurs? Are some type of LSDs, lockers or unlockers more inclined (pun intended) than others?

    1973 Series III LWB 1983 - 2006
    1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.
