Elecy Windows in Defender, Will any other LR item fit?

Hi,
Due to the Air cond being in the road for winding windows on the Defender my wife has chosen to crack it with me.....
So 2 options.
Sliding windows like a Mini
or
Electric Windows like later Defenders....

Ok
Will Disco or Rangie ones fit??
now this is not the glass but the Scissor and motor.

What's this??? Going soft???

I'd be surprised if the RaRo/Disco stuff fits but you never know... I'm sure I've seen after market electric window kits for the Defender but the other option could always be getting the original parts from a scrappy. However, what ever you end up doing, get hold of one of the centre dash consoles from the late Defender as that will finish it off nicely.

As for the sliding windows, basic but the ex-military guys should be able to help you if you wanted to go down that route.

Leccy Windows

There is a mob in the UK that make kits specifically for Deaf Enders. I have this item on my wish list when I get some spare cash as I am sick of jamming my hand/fingers against the air con and at speed wind down these windows is bloody dangerous let alone uncomfortable. It would be interesting for someone with a new model if they happen to pull off their door trim and get the part numbers for the scissor lift and motor. I can not see LR using an all new system for the Defender and more than likely would have just gone to their parts bin for the required items.

Hi Steve
You are talking LAND ROVER here not BMC,so how about, sliding windows LIKE A SERIES LANDY?????
Jokes aside, the sliding glass on a series is mutch safer than a wind down off road,I gaurentee with an open sliding window you wont get any branches flicking in and hitting you in the face. But only a Series pilot would recognise this Also you dont get the same wind buffeting you get on a fully wound down "normal" window, not such a feature on a Series as there is a tonne of other noises to take its place
Have a look for some military defender/ early110 doortops, they have the glass cut at the door jam angle so they slide open further than a series window.
You may have to purchase new doors as I dont think the later "fender" doortops are removable like the early 110/county versions.
Perhaps others have more info.

Soft top doors for Defenders still have removeable tops - and the same door handles as the old County. Check Lara Croft's machine
