    10spline axles before locker!

Ok, just finished installing my detroit locker in the rear of DW.
i was going to go 4x4ing over the long weekend, but looking at my axles i dont think its wise. new axles required.

these are the oem axles from 1993 only ever flogged with an open center.
the straight spline is an old rangie one(top) these are different to
S1 discos in that the disco axle has a seal in the outter tube to stop
diff oil getting to the wheel bearings.
easy way to convert to oil fed bearings. remove seal or change axles.

Pretty normal for the ****ty LR 10 spline axle. Good excuse to upgrade to better axles.

The top one looks okay, but that bottom one looks as if it's started to twist, get rid of it. You will find out the hard way when your about to climb a nasty hill, a bit of acceleration and BANG!!!!

I used to check my 10 splines after every trip ( I used to have a 10 spline ARB air locker) and I remember that I had twisted one side after one off-road trip, not good. Some last longer than others funnily enough.

Better still you can convert a 10 spline locker to Jacmac axles. You have to send the locker to him and he sends you back the axles with the Detroit broached out.
