1984 County Air Con problem

I'm trying to faultfind the County air conditioning. The compressor clutch
isn't being powered so it doesn't engage.

If I put 12v directly to the clutch terminals it does engage.

So I'm working backward to find the problem but I can't find the relay that
supplies power to the clutch.

I've found the main power relay for the County (behind the fuse panel) and
that's OK.

Any clues to the location(s) of the other relays would be gratefully
accepted.

Is it getting a powerfeed from the fan switch to the relay??

I can't find the relay to check. The LED is being illuminated when the fan switch is turned on (and the A/C switch is operated).

If I knew where the high pressure switch or the thermal switch or the thermostat were, I might have more luck.

I may have to pull the dash out.

I know where you are coming from Ron,I had a look under the bonnet of a V8 County a while ago and thought "What a complicated looking aircon system"

I have the same model, there is a relay behind the power steering reservoir with an inline fuse this is also the circuit for the thermo fans. There is also a thermal switch for the fans on the r/drier behind the grill. Found this when I couldn't get the fans to work. Do you have access to a manual as there is a circuit diagram that will be of use.

Thanks Maggsie. I'll have a look. I do have a manual and the owner's handbook. The handbook includs the wiring diagram.

I want to get it all working (as far as possible) before getting the system charged.
