    Clutch Bleeding tips? (county)

Replaced the clutch MC on saturday - everything bled up fine.

On sunday when the fluid was hot I cracked the line (for reasons I won't go into...) and let some air in. I tried to bleed it (several times! - while still hot) but couldn't get the air out.

    Haven't tried cold yet...

If you let it airate it needs a fair amount of time to go back to normal- worse when hot. Were you re-using the same fluid??.
You need to keep putting new fluid in all the time.
With my series Landie I used to keep the old stuff that I used to bleed it with as it never got used, but I had to let it sit for a few days.
I also found that parking on a hill nose up helps with the County when bleeding the brakes.

I was using fresh fluid. Will try jacking it up and bleeding.

My Disco was a PITA as the clutch line route takes it above the clutch master, therefore making it harder to pump the air out, let alone gravity bleeding.
The Stage 1 was the same.

I just persisted with the pumping and eventually it came good, it was just the initial stage to get some of the air out.

Yes, I should have also mentioned it helps to have a helper topping up the reservoir ang giving it a half dozen or more decent pumps really quickly

Yep the county is the same, Line goes UP from the MC to run along the top of the firewall. Maybe I should insert a bleed nipple in the middle (highest point) of the hard line

There is only 2 worthwhile ways

    1. get a coke bottle cap, or what ever fits, and pressurise the master cylinder resevoir, obviously not to much

    2. dont be a tightass and buy a vacuum bleeder, trust me it was the best 80 beer tickets I spent, when it comes to working on rovers

I reckon your on the money.
If i ever have to do it again, i will look at making a new line that takes a different route (lower and away from exhaust) just to eliminate the problem.

I have a spare MC cap and a few spare tubeless valves - maybe I will put them together and try that!

    good idea...

I've heard of a pressure bleeder, but what is a vacuum bleeder, and where did you get yours?

Vacuum bleeder, uses compressed air, then creates a vacuum to suck(hehe OL thread) the fluid from the nipple, these are far better, user friendly, No pumping, just put it on, crack the bleeder

Get them from your local Bursons, Repco
