Installing a grab rail/handle in Defender

Can anyone tell me what is underneath the ceiling "felt" above the passenger door, where I am about to fit a passenger grab rail for Mrs Spud?

The car came with 6 grab rails but unfortunately none where they are needed. There's 2 over the rear door for some unknown reason. How's that for good planning???

Anyway - back on topic, if you take a look at the attached picture, am I going to hit something solid enough to hold the grab handle behind that felt stuff?
    Thanks

Now there's a simple question I also need the answer for. I'll wait around for the answer and pic's of how easy it was to move one from the back door to the front door.

It's the same as a Series roof - there's the junction between the roof and body side, bolted together. Big strong lip, as Reads90 has said.

I have one fitted by MR Automotive. I was crazy busy at the time and just paid them to do it. I'll try and take a pic tonight.

OK - thanks for all that. I am off to town to buy myself a RivNut gun (or a NutSert gun) so I get a proper thread into the steel sheet, instead of using self tappers.

The hand rail is coming from Sydney overnight at the extravagant price of $25, so it should all get done this weekend.

Capt Rightfoot - a picture of a fitted one would be good so I can see where it should go. Ta.

Pictures of your installation process would also be great as a project article on the forum!!
