    Air Intake Housing Removal

    Hi clan,
Can anyone provide some simple instructions on how to remove the Air Intake Filter Housing on a '99 Series II V8.
eg how to access the bottom screws securing it in etc etc.
A suspected backfire (see LPG backfire threads) has split the bottom housing which I can possibly fix if I can remove it.

A new one is pretty expensive. If anyone has one for sale, I'm very, very interested.

    Simon

If anyone has a second hand one I'm interested. If anyone knows how to remove it and repir it, I'm interested.

If anyone has anything to say about Discoveries, I'm interested. I guess thats why I'm here. Interesting!

If its anything like a D1 filter housing then its only held in by rubber plugs that push down into the inner guard then the hoses hold it in place, take the lid off and the filter out and see if it is the same- if so you just carefully pull it out.

Its doesnt look much like the D1 housing, but you've got me thinking. I'll take a very close look at the one mounting point I can see from under the car before I exert excessive force and totally trash it. Thanks.

ps Or maybe I'll read the manual I just bought on Ebay when it arrives.

Yeah, much the same. For the D2 unclip and remove the manifold to the motor, unscrew and remove the manifold to the inner wheel arch, remove the top cover and air filter element, unplug the wire which you'll probably do in the process anyway, remove the duck bill from the inner guard (TD5) and then just grab it and pull hard straight up.

To put it back in you'll need to line the feet up with the holes and push down hard then put all the bits back on.
    Cheers

Thumbs up Follow up to Air Cleaner Housing

Thanks LoanRangie & Slunnie, good instructions

Found one on eBay for US$59, it arrived today and installed it this evening.
It came off a US model D2 and fitted perfectly.
