    Smile Maxxis Bighorns how long.

    Team,
I am looking to purchase some Maxxis Bighorns and as I have seen from numerous threads on this site, they seem to be a very popular tyre selection.
My question for all those who have had or still have is what sort of klm's can I expect to get out of a set of these tyres before they would have to be retired. (become unroad worthy). 30, 40, 80 thousand??
I understand that tyre size affects distance covered but I will be purchasing 245/75/16.

    Thanks in advance

    hairy question....

legal tread wise Id suggest that you might get 90K out of them if you do everything right.

Effective tread wise id say that 60K Km might be optimistic.

    Thanks Dave,
I guess my real concern is the false economy. If I buy tyres for 2/3rds of the price and they only last 2/3rds of the distance then I may as well buy the main stream tyres. But if the Maxxis get the K's that you suggest then I will be really very happy.

    Thanks again.

    Hi there
I honestly can't see say bfg's or coopers getting many more kms out of the same size tyre
They are probably made in the same factory
In the latest issue of the 4wd action mag they test 14 sets of mud tyres, the bfg wins but the Bighorn wasn't far behind it..

I am the proud owner of both BFG's and Bighorns...

Personally i think the Bighorns are a better overall tyre, they both wear about the same... and i believe that price wise you will win with the Bighorns and i cant see the BFG's getting much further in scrub

Most people seem to get 80K out of the Bighorns.
