    3.9 V8i Ignition Coil

    G'day

    I don't know what I'm talking about, so please be gentle...

    3.9 V8i Disco ... I'm replacing the ignition coil which is appears to be dead (after checking resistances), and looking at a (Lucas?) RTC 5628 as per British Four Wheel Drive - Land Rover & Range Rover Parts Specialist :: DISCOVERY SERIES 1 :: ELECTRICAL :: IGNITION :: RTC5628 IGNITION COIL.

    Questions: Do I need to also replace the amplifier unit (which is mounted on the same bracket as the coil) and, if so, is it a separate purchase or does it come with the coil ?

    The amp is separate and provided it is ok (you can test it with a multi meter) just swap the coil. I got one from Paddock as part of a bigger order, cost was reasonable and it's been going strong for 2 years now.
