Thread: starting the old bus

Should be all OK - unless you have played with the oil pump it should still be primed but I would crank it a bit until the oil pressure light goes out before starting just to be sure.

Also when you have ignition on and fuel pump running make sure no fuel is running out the bottom of the carbies as the old o rings can crack when they have dried out.

You are obviously concerned about old fuel so when you have put new fuel into the system run the fuel pump for a while and it will force old fuel in the fuel system (pipes/filters etc) back to the fuel tank and there will be fresh fuel in the system.

101s were delivered in what ever colour the customer wanted.
Most were Deep bronze green and the next most popular colour was Olive Drab.
I think a pair of 101 amberlances were even supplied to a european country in white.
For starting a 101........they like choke. just like any other 3.5 litre rover motor with CD strombergs.
12 or 24 volt ?........if 24 check leads, plugs and points carefully.

They fond the keys then? or did you get new ones cut...

Harry thinks he told you about the fuel filler pipe being torn away from the filler hole, so you will need a long spout to get petrol in, or it will go all over your foot, like what happened to Harry

The keys were not missing at all they were where Mr H left them, another travesty of that transport companies professionalism or lack there of.
Fuel filler pipe is not an issue I usurp that by performing a vehicular version of oral gastric feeding- a pipe through the filler into the tank from the petrol can.
but I believe I haven't enough juice in there yet as it's not quite on the flat I put about 8 litres in and the tank sounded empty utilising the tap test.
I'll be buying a fuel filler from the uk and having a stainless one made in Australia so I don't have a repeat performance in the future.

I think I am still lacking fuel in the tank and I will have a gander under the dizzy tomorrow to check the points and rotor are sweet, I hate petrol motors lol!!!

Hey Ron mine has bronze/green and that appears to have a lime green undercoat to it as it was British army I guess it's quite standard.
mine is 12 volt
