Thread: Coils anyone?

Rather odd spot to have the shocker tower.
Up the occupants butts.

I'd like to see that get past a roadworthy and engineering in Victoria... I can weld better than that, and I wouldn't attempt my own chassis mods - neither should he. The rear radius arms look to be on the wrong angle? What a waste of a 101 chassis...

I've got a chassis prime for being reworked into a coiler, and a body to go on top.
Now I just need to get hold of a scrap Disco to rob the rest of the mechanicals from, got ideas on how I might make it work with the disco pedal box and a decent PAS conversion.

Potential to be a decent vehicle.

Sounds good, the big difference with that one compared to this one, is that you know what you are doing.

I always thought the rear axles of that 6WD 101GS were coiled.

Could be right?
There was a 6x6 camper that had leaves on the front and coils on the back. As far as I know it ended up in Spain with a new owner who pulled the extra axle and put it back on leaf springs.

Last I was aware he was moaning because it didn't handle right and the Tdi in it didn't have enough power.

Quite funny really.

Asking a Tdi to drag a 101 along is a lot but I'd have thought a 6x6 would be way too much!! Would have also thought that running the two second axles on an upturned leaf spring would give it the best ride as its still only sitting on one point either side whilst still giving loads of axle travel without each axle becoming light on the ground. Worked well with the old Merc Prime Movers.

Didn't know what happened to that one.
