GG's door tops were fitted here and painted;) Ours are here as well, they didn't come with rubber around the top, HH has sourced some rubber to do the job, they don't have the channel to fit the rubber like regular 101 door tops. GG's looked good though. Will let you know about ours.

I don't have any seals for my existing door tops and cant get hold of any at a reasonable price so going to run pinchweld type seals from clark rubber on the door surrounds.Quote:

There's been a bit of movement over in the UK re 101 clubs/groups as no doubt a few of you are aware... Anyway, a friend over there messaged me on Facebook yesterday about the subject. His first message was this:-
"Simon, if instead of the 101 FCC&R there was a Global Association of 101 Clubs - for the sake of harnessing purchasing power and unity. Would your Aus. Club nominate a person to sit on the Associations governing panel ?"
I replied with this:-
"Yeah, I recon so. AULRO is a forum, so doesn't have the club rules, but there's been talk of an Aussie club, so I could add a post about there being a Global Club/Association option and c what feedback we get.. Let me know if that suits u, and if so how you'd like it worded and with what points, and we'll go from there. My email is sitec74@icloud if you want to get hold of me directly. Cheers for now."
And this is the reply:-
"Simon, The principle would be that localised Clubs could start anywhere and everywhere and run under there own governance and once they've met some criteria, would be eligible to join the Global Association. The Global Association would not operate as an owners Club but as an association of them. This would allow more flexibility and accountability. It would reduce operational costs. The problem of difficult members would become a localised issue. A small local
club disbanding and reforming to eject a rogue members is better than losing a whole global operation. Time and time again. Global communications is now supporting terrorism in many aspects of sociology and we are suffering one of them. I'm just fielding a concept. I'm not exactly sure how it'd work with us, not being a club, but as I've been asked, I thought I'd 'put it out there' for discussion. Mods/Inc, value your thoughts as its not something I know the logistics of what's involved etc etc. The Global Group has been started on Facebook, tho Im assuming/hoping it will migrate from there to a more secure and permanent place. So, guys.. Fire away.. R we interested, how do we go about it? Thoughts, issues etc.
After going through the process of turning TeamW4 from 4 or 5 mates on Aulro to an incorporated club with 60 odd members and affiliating with the WA 4x4 association and council of motoring clubs, I can attest that it is not an easy task and still takes a fair bit of managing. However it was necessary to achieve our objectives so we worked through it. If the 101 club / register wanted to be a governing body/ association for 101 owners, maybe any incorporated Land Rover specific club could become a member. It may fragment the 101 comunity a bit but would still meet their criteria for purchasing power etc. and encourage more owners to be a part of them.
I have not bothered to look at the UK 101 club site and see whats going on as I find everything I need here.
Yes distance and time is our killer in this part of the 101 world.
I think we should go as....... AULRO 101 group....... and Sitec can be our rep to wave the flag with other clubs.
We should be friendly enough and wise enough to communicate though this forum.
The back up for us going this way if things get out of hand, Incisor can come along and pull us back into line as at the end of the day it is his web site and he is a ultimate governing independent power.
I feel that any communication should be open to all on this forum site so everyone knows what is going on and cannot say they didn't know or were left out of the loop and everyone has a voice.

I see the advantage of being a group is if some one gets a mod or a part made, then more could be manufactured and we share the information and throw in between ourselves to cover the costs etc.
It must be a fully open system.
We have done similar in the past.......like the winch cables of many years ago.......or shared specs and where to get winch shift and tranfercase cables made.
Using the word group covers us for many things and accurately describes what we are without the running problems of a club and the time needed to run it.
Our over seas voice (sitec) if he wants the job ,should be reviewed on this forum once a year and the offer of some one to do the job if they want it.
I think we should get AJ posting on this forum on a regular basis and he can tell us what he is up to spare parts wise and importation wise of vehicles.
AJ being a dealer and making his living in trading in Landrover parts I wouldn't expect him to share everything he knows as he depends on it to survive.........I have found in the past AJ is just as much devoted to the 101 cause as we are and could be less helpful and line his pockets more if he wanted too.
We need Incisor to have his say on this post.
