in exactly the same way that the AULRO forum has rules about commercial advertising it was considered that a non member advertising items specifically made with the intention to sell was unacceptable as it was done for personal gain and furthermore was an item that at least partly competes with the club's own item, given that one is SS and one is MS

Given your attitude to the club i suspect you will reject this explanation but you did ask why and that is the reason

I would have thought that if someone is offering to make heavy duty tanks for the figure mentioned, they are doing it to help others with a fairly unique vehicle, and not exactly making huge coin out of it. I am also lucky enough to have the skills to make tanks etc, and would have done exactly the same.... if I had the time and energy. I understand exactly what you are saying though.... I've not seen your tanks, but, if they are modelled on the original 101 tank which is soldered together, and sits in a moisture trapping cradle then an 'Aussie Spec' heavy steel tank would be my choice. That said, I'd like to see pics of your tanks and prices to make a fair comparison.....

That would be the reason, as there is a for sale section there. And probably quite rightly. The 101 club runs a parts department, so I can see why they wouldn't want competition to that.

My attitude to the 101 club is well documented elsewhere on this site.

You wouldn't happen to know this recalcitrant fellow, would you?

So the 101 club has their S/S fuel tanks in stock. Some tome ago I made enquiries to buy a S/S tank. There were none in stock and at the time there were doubts as to whether the stock would be replenished. I had to make other arrangements.

All three of my 101's have the original factory fuel tanks. I wouldn't mind an Aussie spec'd one or two.

I'll have a steel tank to take a few pictures of before it goes on the vehicle in a week or so (by which i mean I'll get it in around a week).

Looking at that photo it'll be pretty much the same as Aussie spec, although perhaps a little deeper.

Single unit price is still £350, might get a discount from the fabricator for a multiple order, and will price ally properly if there's interest.
