No way. How was that consensus reached? It certainly has all the hall marks of having been there for a long time (hinge wear, seals broken up and cracked, etc) but I had never even thought about it possibly being done in service.

Do you doubt me or did you just not realise?
I'll see if I can find a few posts.

I don't doubt you. You haven't put me wrong yet. I didn't realise though. I'd be very interested to know more if you have information.

Just remembered. James told me not long after he moved to Australia.

Mark also has a unique 101.

Gavs is one of six (or something like that).

Good on ya Mrs hh. I must introduce you to Mrs JBR one day ... maybe your good habits will rub off on her.

(Actually, truth is I can't complain. Mrs JBR rang me while she was out shopping to ask which magazine I prefer - Land Rover Monthly or LR International. )

I got a copy through last week. Lots of nice pictures etc, but no mention of my 101's past or present.
I must also admit that for all the times I've seen the photo of the IIB coming off the landing craft in the past 22 years, it was only on reading about it in the book that I noticed 'Buttercup' in there behind it. She's in the background of a few other pictures in her more familiar yellow too.

I also picked up on there having been 3 'big lightweights' (2 of which survive) rather than the 2 total the book claims, and the Series 4 speed gearbox being reffered to as an LT77, although they were sometimes known as the LT76 in later Leyland days.

    Worth the ?16 anyways.
