By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

hehehe...yes thankfully my daily drive is pretty local...I am on the hunt for tyre and wheel advice...any words of wisdom?
I am greener than that frog which keeps popping up around here.
Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.
Being a 16" rim, anything big enough is usually costly... A few of us run Michelin XZL's (255/100 R16's).. Costly and rare as chooks teeth.. (Needed to keep my projectile on the road!). Several run widened 16" rims with large mud biased tyres.. Some run the original bar grips.. (Far from ideal).. Its all according to how you want it to look.. When the XZL's wear out (if I still have the 101), I will be thinking along the lines of a rim change up to 19.5" truck rims and bespoke centers, similar to the OKA's. Heres a pic of roughly what I was thinking..
