    Possible Group Buy / Info

    Hi All,

I spotted these on FB today...

I contacted the person to ask if he made these to sell - this is his answer:
"Yes he will make more sets, they work out at $350 a set. The last 2 sets took around 4 months as he was overloaded with his proper work. I can collect and ship them to you if it helps. They also make all ally door bottoms that are half the price of the originals and a stainless cold air intake that enables you to run the Elderbrock manifold and 500cfm carb without modifying the engine cover"

    Note - that's 350 pounds + freight.

I'm thinking of a set - although my mind isn't made up. So I thought that I would post the above and see if anybody is interested. I don't know this person - only via the 101 Forward Control Group on FB.

    Cheers,
    The Grey Ghost

They look like a lot of work has gone into them. Although my manifolds are still ok, I'm very aware that one could just shatter at any moment...

I may be up for a set.

Has any of the 101 crowd looked at fitting P38 headers? They have a similar swept back design, totally different to the stock cast manifolds on all the standard cab LR versions.

In fact it looks like these hand made headers use recycled P38 header plates, those holes look familiar.

I have seen those before - I appreciate the work that has gone into those but once landed they are probably still a bit pricey. If you look hard enough there are still quite a few 101 manifolds coming on sites for sale but they are becoming hard to find particularly if you need them quickly.

As an alternative P38 manifolds go on without modification on the drivers side (you need bigger exhaust pipes though) and on the passenger side they go on but require a bit of modification.

If your happy to go the price then do it now as the pound exchange rate is quite good at the moment.

If this gets fair dikum I will buy a set.
I have owned my 101 for 10 years now and not likely to sell it soon.
Also in that time I have cracked both LH and RH manifolds and paid a high price to get a RH one when I needed it in a hurry.
My problem is I don't do face book.

Yeah, but that's the whole point Garry - you either do the P38 thing, and replace you exhaust system, and still have to frig around heavily modifying one of them, or put your hands in your pockets and buy something that someone has gone to a lot of trouble to build that will pretty much bolt straight on.

Buying a second hand set isn't going to change the fact that the original manifolds are like glass and even if you find a set for sale, long term, you may still have a breakage. Even if you get an issue in years to come with the fabricated ones, at least you can weld them up easily.

I saw a sign on a cubby house once that was for sale that said 'I know you can build one, but will you?' The same sentiment applies here too I think.

They look a well built item, with a lot of work gone into designing and fabricating them. A pretty fair price considering, and after all, at least they are available.

    Hi All,

I've sent the guy a message and asked him:

    * What is the freight charge (for a set) - to Ron's suburb.
    * What is the freight charge (for a set) - to Gav's suburb.
    * What is the freight charge (for a set) - to my suburb.
    * What the ETA would be.

I'll keep you posted when I hear back.

    Cheers,
    The Grey Ghost.

    Hi All,

Can I please have an EXACT address for a delivery quote?

The guy has come back and said that the parcel is 6kg, but he needs an exact address.. I had sent him some postcodes thinking that would be good enough - but apparently it isn't.

Can you please PM me a delivery address and I will pass the info onto him.

    Cheers,
    Grey Ghost

    More information.

    Hi All,

The seller is quoting 350 gbp for the manifolds and 60 gbp for DHL international delivery.

Based on a quick google exchange rate calculation:
    410 bgp @ 1.61 = $662 AUD

Are you guys interested? Please let me know ASAP - so that I can go to the seller and say "we want X units".

Once you have confirmed, I will ask the seller:
    * What's the ETA?
    * How do we proceed?
    * Does he require a deposit, payment in full before he starts, etc?

    Cheers,
