Great pics will save me alot of messing around.the pto cable that came with the winch is buggered so only good for a pattern. have you left your winch control lever on the right and made a overdrive lever for the left ?. would be interested to see if they could be modified to have the pto on the left, leave the high/low in the middle and the overdrive on the right just for ease of use.after wedging the 101 on a mound and finding it lifting the rear wheel i decided to check the rear shock travel. after getting it on level ground and marking the shocks i then removed them from the top mount and extended them out. 30mm is all they have left no wonder it lifts wheels. i would assume that they were set up for most of the travel to be downward when loaded and towing as we want it the other way now.
cheers gaz
My winch lever is as standard with the overdrive lever on the left.
I made the overdrive lever longer so it is easier to reach over the other levers.
The longer overdrive lever works out good as it makes operation of the light.
It is a fair reach to operate it .
Over seas they tend to get or fabricate a spare winch lever for a left hand drive vehicle and use that.
In doing that there is a bit of work swapping over the PTO indicator light and lock out catch.
I would think the short ex PTO/ winch lever would be hard stiff to operate as the overdrive has a good detent action via cable.
The long throw on mine is good........but it is on the wrong side of the fan tunnel.
The biggest improvement with all my levers has been done by replacing the cables and ensure they run cleanly as possible.
I found room in front of all the levers for my CB radio without affecting operation of either.

The yellow knob used is from a 11A landy four wheel drive knob.
I found the fabrication of the extra lever easy.

Gday all
Good pics ron thanks. just have to fabricate a lever now. had a bit of luck and managed to find a overdrive which is still fitted in the vehicle, the guy whos got it was very helpful and also has alot of landies himself. traded a rolling discovery shell for it so its worked out well for both of us.

Hi Iain Reed.
Check out all the pages on 101s on this site as our collective knowledge and experiences has been great.
We need the chassis number which is under the paint on the chassis on the rhs front spring hanger.
On your 101 there is some sort of mix up and it is not supposed to exist or some thing.
Dodge(Gaz) is looking to set up his 101 for LP Gas.
If you can post some pictures of your 101s petrol and gas tank locations ,ect would be helpful as I believe the way your 101 as done is very good.
Start another 101 thread and let us know how things are going with your 101
and anything you have done to it , like , or dislike.
Hang on to that chassis battery box some one will need it one day.
Ron.
PS Out of all the 4WD sites I have visited this one has been very friendly and the Mods are fantastic too.

I didnt go to motorfest as I decided to do some 4 wheeling at Yalwal ,instead of spending time polishing the old 101 up.
You may have meet some of my friends from the AMVCS and Russel and Lotz a Landies (Diana) from this site.

G day
The 101 is going ok. will be up for a water pump shortly as its starting to leak and has play in the bearing. anyone know if they are the same as a range rover ?. got a few oil leaks to fix but no rush, will worry when it stops leaking.apart from those few small things its going like a train.
cheers gaz
