Councils don't care. To them it will be just another abandoned vehicle on a public road. If there has been a complaint of an unregistered or abandoned vehicle then they have a responsibility to act. There is a statutory procedure. Here in Brisbane a council officer will visit usually within one or two weeks of a complaint, door knock the vicinity to attempt to find the owner, give a verbal warning if one is located, then place an official notice on the vehicle. If no reponse after a statutory waiting period, the vehicle will be removed to a holding yard. Once removed, then council places an ad. in the local press detailing the vehicles towed in the last couple of weeks and inviting owners to retrieve the vehicle and pay the charges. Again if no response another ad. is placed listing abandoned vehicles that will be sold by public auction.

As understand it the vehicle and trailer (I understand that it is the powered trailer - this 101 and its trailer is the one we hear and read about in Australian 101 history) and is in thye custody of its owner. The owner is currently overseas and negotiations for its sale are underway.
People raising visibility about the vehicle could have a negative influence its sale.

If the vehicles are registered and legally parked, then neither Council nor Police will take any action other than tell the owner there has been a complaint and perhaps he should move them around or tidy them up occasionally. If not, then action will be taken as detailed in my earlier post. There is a fine, was $150, for parking unregistered vehicles on a public road. Also, Brisbane City Council has a by-law forbidding the displaying of vehicles for sale on a public road, Fine also $150. Don't know if Cairns City Council has a similar rule. Brisbane City Council being spoilsports, if they find a registered vehicle being displayed for sale on a road without a Safety Certificate attached to the vehicle, notify Qld. Transport who are also likely to visit and hand out another fine.

Garrycol,
It may have been a better idea if you had PMed me this information in a friendly manner, rather than insinuating that by innocently posting a pic of an interesting vehicle noticed in my local area, I may be 'raising the visibility" of the vehicle. This again reeks of the same cloak and dagger sh*t that is currently aflicting the REMLR section, blocking what was a informative public forum, from those who have a genuine interest in the discussion points.

i don't understand garry comment
everyother day members are posting links and pics of cars that are 4 sale etcPeople raising visibility about the vehicle could have a negative influence its sale.
re: cloak and dagger ........i'm not a member of remlr so i will leave that to others
I think Garry means by promoting the existence of the vehicle, the competition to buy it will rise and in turn potentially increase the price.
Personally I'd call that a "positive" if I was trying to sell it, not a "negative" - however if I wished to buy it, I'd try and keep it hushed up too... anyway, too late for that, it's out in the open now.
The trailer is driven by a special PTO geared to the transfer case output not input. Same PTO unit as is used for the Perentie 6x6.
I have heard that the driven trailer can give serious problems on sharp turns (trailer wheels travel a shorter distance than rear wheels of towing vehicle, but are locked to the same speed - similar problem to sharp turns with the centre diff locked, but made worse by the fact that there is a joint in the middle, and the trailer is trying to push the rear wheels sideways from a point above the wheels), but otherwise apparently has no other problems.
