I'm digging this up as I too am having difficulties finding insurance for the 101. My speeding infringements have caught up with me, despite no loss of demerit points in over two years both Shannon's and SGIO Classic will not insure me. I can insure a 6.0L V8 SS Commodore and all the insurance companies care about is no loss of license but a 2 tonne 4wd that struggles to hit 100km/h and its flat out refusal.
Most of the majors wont touch it as its over 35 years old or not in their system.
The only viable option with SGIO is third party fire and theft which I would be fine with except that the value can only be a max of $10k... I'm mainly concerned about the theft of the vehicle and coverage for accidents where I'm at fault so would be miffed if it gets stolen and I only get 10K back. Maybe I just need to invest in some anti-theft devices and sat-tracking to get the third party coverage.
I'm going to try Lumleys in the next couple of days to see what they offer.
