I know it's not completely relevant here, however I am considering switching all my insurance from NRMA to Shannons.
Currently I have:When I tried to get insurance on the Mk3 Inter NRMA wouldn't insure a truck.
- D4 = comprehensive
- RRc = Third Party Fire and Theft
- Perentie 110 = Classic Comprehensive (must travel less than 9,000km/year)
- SIII FFR = Classic Comprehensive (must travel less than 9,000km/year)
- Mk3 Inter = uninsured
A well known Sydney enthusiast and Inter owner then suggested Shannons. He has 4 trucks including 2 prime movers a civvy ute and a Land Rover under Shannons.
So AAVA recently paid insurance for a Leyland Mastiff to take vehicles to an event. Shannons Comprehensive cost a little over $200 with no problems about a truck with a 15 tonne GVM.
Shannons have a rate for a single vehicle, A reduced rate for two vehicles and a lower again rate for the 3rd and subsequent vehicles.
I'm tempted to move everything as they will also cover your daily driver and work truck.
I would consider going to Shannons for the Classics but I would get quotes for the D4 - I have my Haflinger, 101 and Jag on the a Shannons combined policy and it is very cost effective.
However their price for insuring the RRS was one of the highest I was quoted - if the RRS was included on the combined Shannons policy any savings on the Classics were well an truely wiped out.
So shop around.
