    101 Insurance

I have been ringing around looking for quotes and cover notes for the 101 without a lot of luck.

NRMA have not heard of a 101 but do have a 101 Campervan and a 77 Landrover V8 convertible on their books. So they cannot look at anything until next week when they confirm exactly what I have to insure.

Shannons does have a 101 on their lists and initially would only insure for $12K as that is their list value for the 101. I managed to get their agreed value up to $15K for a premium of $409 which is not too bad but they do not give cover notes. I want to compare companies and specifically look at what the offroad coverage is like. Shannons said they will not cover vehicles in 4wd parks - the consultant alluded to competitions but I need to be sure what the coverage is.

I would like to get a cover note to give me time to investigate the various policies.

So 101 owners, who are you insured with and what type of coverage do you have?

    Cheers

I have NRMA third party property 2009 =2010.
    Annual premium 188.94 dollars.
    1977 landrover truck
    Excess 500 dollars.
    Policy no MOT 193 106 ???
When I was ringing around I think the NRMA and Shannons were the only ones interested.
This was a continuation of the previous owners policy as it was too hard to change companies for no gain.

    Thanks Ron,

I am not totally wedded to comprehensive and will look at whether to go just 3rd party or 3rd party, fire and theft.

I will have to check with the NRMA next week.

Went through another 45mins with NRMA - only to be told the maximum they would insure any 101 for was $5000. Needless to say - no thanks.

I guess it is Shannons then.

Garry I have NRMA 3rd party fire and theft on my fleet. The maximum value that they will go is $10K for the f&t cover.

Try GIO, ask for the classic and vintage car section of the vehicle insurance. If its over 30 years it should fit in their parameters

Gio are no longer doing classic insurance and referred me to Shannons. They would not insure a 101 for more than $3100 with their normal insurance.

I went with Lumleys - only slightly more expensive than Shannons but have half the excess and I keep ownership of the wreck in the case of a write off.

Shannons only give you first option to buy where Lumleys give it too you.

Just got cover with Shannon's. Agreed value, Comprehensive cover, All modifications (Big Wheels/Tyres and 3.9 engine) covered. On and off road. $500 excess. No dramas. Cheaper than insuring my crappy old Magna.

Tried TCIS first but "the girl who does the insurance quotes was away today" - didn't inspire confidence.
