Thread: Blackout switch ?

Are we talking about the IR switch with the cover over it or the main 6 position switch? I assume the IR switch

I do want to keep mine but it is not connected at all and i believe no aust 101s had IR lights - have not seen any in service pics with them - your ambi may be different but i digress.

The lights will work ok if the switch is bypassed - just pull the wires off the back and connect those together that allow the headlights to work normally. Alternatively just but in an aftermarket (on-on) switch and put that in as an interim until you can get a proper one. I did this with my instrument dimmer switch and works fine.

101s don't have infared lights, the military just screwed filters over the headlights. Thats why the IR switch turns everything except the headlights off.

Thats what I thought as well - I asked a similar question many moons ago - unfortunately with everyone on the battle field having night goggles, a 101 would still stand out like dogs - you know.

When I put spotties on my 101, I am going to use the IR switch as the required separate switch to the high/low beam switch.
