Perhaps a viable replacement for the Oka (or a Daily) if I succumb to the bright and shiny

A couple of points though ........................ "Super low range crawl gear of 2.2:1", hardly super low but actually refers to the TC low range ratio. A pity the sales/marketing types don't know/understand the difference between the two.

The other thing that struck me was the 8.5 R17.5 wheel/tyres. A ridiculous and difficult to obtain size and with a relatively low load rating of 121/120. But as an off road camper base you'd give these the flick and go with larger diameter 'super singles' to give better gearing/ride etc. I wonder if the 100 kph limiter can be turned off ?

may very well be , SWMBO has lost complete confidence in Iveco , peace of mind is a huge part of having a stress free relax when touring.

Todays Iveco effort was a 320km round towing trip and the Boost hose popped off , seems every trip a new fault manifests itself. At least my brakes are sorted.

Will be organising a test drive in the next few weeks & if all goes well will trade the Iveco in on a DC Hino with super singles (19.5's) & RDL .

Sounds like a Land Rover Don
Hino were generally known as a Japanese Mack so could be a good thing

I will be interested to know how you find the ride quality. I thought that the Jap trucks had a very hard ride in the front mainly due to the short front spring length?

Given your obvious skill in modifying and improving your vehicles, I wonder why you would consider say an OKA? They are modular, rebuildable and improvable by design and a seriously good overlanding vehicle can be built from a reasonably modest base? For instance the OKA has seriously long leaf springs at both ends which reputably give a superb ride over rough ground.

I simply don't like the big box between the front seats , otherwise I would have found one before the Iveco.

A bloke I know just traded his Iveco on a Hino, 20k changeover, he reports the ride is better than Iveco , (with 1 tonne on the back) and more grunt .

After thinking about it more, I'll probably hold off on spending new car money for now though , at least until I see what the new Defender is all about, but if its anything al all like a D5 / RR I'll run the other way. I may keep the Iveco and get the Jeep Scrambler DC Ute announced for next year if the Defender is no good.
