I want one for when I retire and I thought it to be a good price but I am not near retirement - I have no idea what the reserve was though.

    Hi all
I had a look at their web site before I put the post up. The latest NT model now has a cummins engine and the tyres have gone from 16" to 19.5 or 20" and strengthened drive train.

Trouble is this doesnt tell me how good it is, even toyotas sound good on paper.

Reading the specs sheet they have all the good gear in them so they sound like they are very capable, ARB lockers are an option for them as are many other good bits.

I didn't realise they are 4.5t that could mean that the fuel consumption is not great? I can live with it being as appalling as my V8 Disco

The weight of 4.5 Tonne would then require a Medium or Heavy Rigid License, and providing that the engine were suffuciently powerfull you would get as high as 10+ mpg, they would have some type of economy figures to show genuinely interested customers, see if you can arrange a test drive, most companies/dealers (exept Landy ones) will oblige

economy would be dependant on body configuration

    Hi Uncle Ho
I am in the process of getting my heavy ridgid license to cart the horses around in the truck we just bought so the license isn't an issue. and you are right about the test drive if they are serious about a sale then they will let me have a descent test drive.

I've been the the mausoleum in Hanoi and seen Uncle Ho is there a conection somehow? hope you look in better nick than him

    Cheers Blythe

Some years ago there was several F101's for sale in Darwin I think they were ex malaysian military some of them went for as little as 6K . I would have loved to buy one but I was in the middle of having my soul surgically removed by my ex. The devil is happy he now has another customer waiting and I am happy as I now know where I am going when I die

But back to the F101's they looked damned near indestructable, never seen a salsbury front diff before

Yes, a 101 is an awesome thing to drive, Range Rover Motor,Gearbox/Transfer (Lower gearing I think, with restrictors below the carbs), Parabolic Leaf Springs and a wheel at each corner Cresting up a steep slope is mind boogling, but the driving position is challenging to anybody over 5ft9in and 75kilos I would have one in a minute

The ones in Darwin came from Bruni, brought in with a few Lightweights, and a couple of MK Bedfords, were filthy dirty, customs impounded them (some has spiders and snakes in them) and then handed the enterpreneur the bill 200K I was told, he said S**%#@ lot and left the country, some turned up in Dilli in a car yard, but the bulk of them were auctioned off by Customs for money owing, were beleived to have been sold to Southern interests. S.A.?? the Aust Army had 56 as part of their Rapier Defence System, they were sold off when they went over to Diesel 110's & 6x6's

    G'day Blitz.
I would also be interested to hear the results of a test drive !
They sound like they might also suit my purposes.
Perhaps a slide on camper unit could be used if you wanted to tow
something other than a caravan, and removed when not required ?
    Cheers.

PS: Utemad, thanks for your detailed info on the F250, I think I will give
    that a miss.
